Job Title: Software Asset Strategist

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to manage ICT software assets that underpin critical statewide services.

This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring optimal use and compliance of ICT software assets throughout their lifecycle.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and strategic advice to ensure alignment with government policies and legal obligations.

Liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate compliance risks and provide timely recommendations.

Lead the Software Asset function and team, offering professional support, advice, and reporting to specialists, projects, management, and end users.

Ensure software asset management systems, processes, and procedures align with industry best practices and ICT software asset management standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic advice to ensure optimal use and compliance of ICT software assets.
  • Coordinate and manage Software Asset Management (SAM) activities, ensuring licence compliance, cost-effective utilisation, and alignment with government policies and legal obligations.
  • Liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate compliance risks and provide timely recommendations.
  • Lead the Software Asset function and team, offering professional support, advice, and reporting.
  • Ensure software asset management systems, processes, and procedures align with industry best practices.
Requirements:
  • Asset Management Expertise: Proven experience in lifecycle management of enterprise ICT software assets.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to provide technical software solutions, with strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Contract Management Knowledge: Familiarity with ICT enterprise software vendor licence compliance requirements.
  • Engagement Skills: Capability to gather business requirements and provide timely, strategic advice.
  • Leadership Abilities: Experience leading technical and strategic team discussions and reviews.
  • Continuous Improvement Focus: A track record of monitoring, reporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software asset management.
  • Strong technical skills in software licensing, contract negotiation, and asset management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
