Software Asset Management Lead

The role of Software Asset Management Lead plays a vital part in overseeing the lifecycle management of software assets for the Department. The successful candidate will lead the lifecycle management of software assets, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness in alignment with organisational and government standards.

This position involves providing strategic advice and technical expertise to ensure optimal use and compliance of ICT software assets throughout their lifecycle. The candidate will coordinate and manage Software Asset Management (SAM) activities, liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, and lead the Software Asset function and team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise and strategic advice to ensure optimal use and compliance of ICT software assets.
  • Coordinating and managing SAM activities, ensuring licence compliance, cost-effective utilisation, and alignment with government policies and legal obligations.
  • Liaising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate compliance risks and provide timely recommendations.
  • Leading the Software Asset function and team, offering professional support, advice, and reporting to IT specialists, projects, management, and end users.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in lifecycle management of enterprise ICT software assets and software asset management principles.
  • Technical skills, including ability to provide technical software solutions, strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Contract management knowledge, familiarity with ICT enterprise software vendor licence compliance requirements, trends, and lifecycles.
  • Engagement skills, capability to gather business requirements and provide timely, strategic advice.
  • Leadership abilities, experience leading technical and strategic team discussions and reviews.
  • Continuous improvement focus, track record of monitoring, reporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
