Australia's electricity system is undergoing a period of unprecedented transformation, driven by the country's commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. This requires innovative approaches to managing systems and markets.

The Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) is a newly established initiative aimed at accelerating investment in firmed renewable capacity, ensuring reliability in the rapidly changing energy market.

The CIS branch is responsible for scaling up investment in priority generation and storage projects across various energy markets. It works closely with key stakeholders to coordinate action and drive progress.

The Design and Commercial team plays a critical role in developing guidelines and agreements for zero-emissions projects, as well as providing commercial advice on all aspects of the CIS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on effective strategies to incentivize and deliver zero-emissions projects from development to operations, while mitigating risks.
  • Leading and/or supporting the delivery of formal tender and legal documents, presentations, plans, commercial analysis, and policy briefs.
  • Managing relationships with external stakeholders, including commercial and financial advisers and commercial lawyers.

Requirements:

  • Existing knowledge of energy projects or policy, or an ability and enthusiasm to develop this expertise.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and evidence.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Policy and analytical skills, with the ability to provide recommendations based on thorough analysis.
