Lead Financial Risk Management

As a highly valued Risk Management Leader at Great Southern Bank, you will be responsible for analysing and challenging financial risk frameworks, including liquidity, interest rate, counterparty credit, capital management, and budgeting/forecasting. You will work closely with business stakeholders to refine and develop the risk management framework, identify emerging risks, and champion a strong positive risk culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive balance sheet analytics and insights to improve balance sheet management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, processes, systems, and models used to monitor and make decisions about financial risks
  • Support first-line risk management to identify and analyse key risk measures and provide an independent view of whether the business is in control
  • Provide the Executive and Board with confidence that they are making well-informed decisions in the best interests of our customers
  • Develop, produce, and/or contribute to regular and ad-hoc risk reporting as required for regulators, boards, committees, executive management, and leadership teams
  • Oversee risk events are accurately recorded, managed, monitored, escalated, and reported upon
  • Prepare and produce risk insights that identify trends, patterns, and concentration to interpret changes to the risk profile and high inherent risks that would have a material impact for Great Southern Bank

Requirements:

  • 8+ years' experience in a similar role within the Financial Services sector
  • Working within a three lines of defence model for managing risk
  • Proven experience in driving balance sheet analytics and being able to independently deliver outcomes
  • Analysis of a range of financial instruments from an interest rate, liquidity, credit, or financial risk perspective
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels to clearly communicate good risk management practices
  • Knowledge of relevant financial services regulatory and compliance considerations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
