Team Leader Kinship Case Manager

Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative is a leading Aboriginal community-controlled organisation, recognised for its high profile in the public and private sectors across research, consultancy, policy development, and partnerships. We have been a resource, service provider, and enabler of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the Greater Shepparton region since 1980. Our organisation is a cooperative working to provide a range of supports and services, including:
- Health and wellbeing
- Positive aging and disability services
- Community services
- Asset and infrastructure services
- Corporate services
We have an annual budget of $19 million and a workforce of approximately 230 people. We are a significant employer and economic contributor to the region and play a high profile leadership role as one of the larger Aboriginal organisations in Australia. We are committed to ensuring the Aboriginal people in the Goulburn Valley have certainty of access to community-controlled services.
Role PurposeAs a Team Leader Kinship Case Manager, you will:
- Lead a team providing case management and support to vulnerable children and their carers.
- Oversee the Better Futures and Home Stretch Programs, ensuring smooth transitions for young people from Kinship Care to independent living.
- Collaborate with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) to meet kinship care targets and reduce placements in residential and foster care.
- Ensure culturally sensitive support for Aboriginal children, maintaining their cultural identity.
- Develop and implement effective case management strategies to support vulnerable children and their carers.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to organisational policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organisations, and service providers.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures, ensuring they are culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal children and families.
- Experience in team leadership and strategy development.
- Knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
- Strong confidentiality and compliance skills.
- Understanding of Aboriginal community and culture, with an emphasis on the health and wellbeing of young Aboriginal people.
- Skills in assessment, referral management, and case support practices.
- Understanding of child development and factors impacting it, including recognising signs of cumulative harm.
- Competitive Pay and Conditions: Compensation is aligned with the SCHADS Award, ranging from Level 6 Pay Point 1 – 6 from $53 to $58 per hour, depending on your qualifications, skills, and experience.
