About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Reliability Engineer to join our team at Xero. As a key member of our Data Reliability team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the scalability and reliability of our cloud-based data platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with product teams to provide technical guidance on architectural decisions and database design.
  • Apply your expertise to resolve complex issues and improve the overall reliability of our data platforms.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify and prioritize issues, and provide timely updates on progress.
  • Participate in incident response and work collaboratively with the team to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and methodologies, and contribute to the development of best practices within the team.
What You'll Bring
  • 3-5 years of experience with highly available cloud data platforms, preferably AWS, with a focus on relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Experience with logging and monitoring solutions, such as DPA, New Relic, and Sumo Logic.
  • Strong understanding of technical debt and its impact on application and database performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong ownership ethic and a desire to solve complex problems.
