About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Lead Delivery & Conversion area of the Greenstone value chain. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire product delivery process, from engineering and delivery perspectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of Engineering & Quality Engineering Managers to drive significant business outcomes.
  • Accountable for the overall product delivery, performance management, and operational excellence of the engineering teams under your supervision.
  • Play a critical role in driving the technical direction, strategy, and execution of engineering & quality efforts.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and other Engineering leaders to craft suitable product and technical roadmaps.
  • Facilitate collaboration and alignment within and across teams to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Subject Matter Expert for your domain, providing high-level feasibility assessments on new initiatives.
  • Accountable for team health and performance, working closely with the Head of Engineering on capacity planning and hiring.
  • Focus on capability uplift, providing coaching, mentoring, and training to ensure Engineering Managers and teams are well-placed to tackle challenges.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in modern software development practices, tools, and technologies.
  • Ideal experience with a variety of technology stacks and programming languages.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within scope.
  • Experience with performance management, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and architectures (e.g., AWS, microservices) is a plus.
  • Experience working with various tools to design, orchestrate, test, build, release & monitor systems.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Desirable Skills
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and processes (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Experience with employing Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as TDD and pair programming.
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops practices and tools.
  • Prior involvement with production support / incident response beneficial.
  • Knowledge of good Application Security practices.
