The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer and Editor to join our team. As a key member of our safety management activities, you will be responsible for managing and updating procedural and guidance documentation, ensuring that complex and technical information is effectively communicated to various audiences.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expertise in writing, editing, and quality control of technical documents, including manuals and guidance material, to support CASA's surveillance activities.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops to determine current and future business requirements related to documentation.
- Establish and maintain internal and external communications channels to facilitate effective consultation.
- Utilize creativity and innovation to develop training and education activities related to the introduction of changes to CASA's surveillance activities.
- Perform other duties as requested by the section manager.
- Work closely with the correspondence team to ensure consistency in activities and communications.
- Responsible for coaching others, providing performance feedback, and mentoring.
- Develop and implement work plans and help set work area priorities.
- Collaborate with Shared Services areas to ensure consistency and high-quality outcomes.
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement and engage stakeholders with effective and considered communication.
- Promote workplace safety, equity, and diversity, participative management, and environmental management in the workplace, and act in accordance with CASA's Values and Behaviours.
- Significant experience in writing, editing, and quality assurance of technical documents, preferably in a government or regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated ability in critical analysis, research, and interpretation of complex legislation.
- Advanced skills in the use of the MS Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat X.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical material for non-technical audiences.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or work experience.
- Experience within the aviation industry, including sound knowledge of aviation terminology.
- Demonstrated document management using TRIM/RM8 or a similar records management system.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, managing deadlines, and developing and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate the ability to exercise significant evaluative judgement to deal with unfamiliar circumstances and/or sudden changes.
- Experience in or good understanding of internal auditing practices.
