About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Specialist to join our team at the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to support the Administrator of the Northern Territory.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including media outlets and government agencies
* Source and liaise with casual speech writers, fact-check and research content for the Administrator and Deputy of the Administrator
* Administer and maintain social media channels, web content, and identify new content trends
* Prepare and disseminate media alerts and media releases, liaise with media outlets and manage on-site media requests
Selection Criteria:
* Demonstrated high-level communication skills, including superior creative writing, editing, and research skills
* Practical knowledge of media processes and operational requirements
* Proven adaptability and flexibility, able to manage pressure and change
* Knowledge of the machinery of government and the role of the Administrator
* Ability to work outside normal business hours as required
