Early Childhood Key Worker Job Description

This role involves working with families to provide early intervention services that support the development and independence of children aged 0-9 years with developmental delay or disability. As a key worker, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that delivers evidence-based, family-centred services in individual and group settings.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum diploma tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Allied Health Professions, or a relevant education/health professional field. You should have a strong understanding of early childhood development and be able to use this knowledge to support and upskill families in an individualised way. Experience providing support to families using a strengths-based coaching approach is desirable.

You will also be responsible for writing reports and providing details to the relevant authorities on a child's developmental and functional abilities. Proficient use of a computer is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide early intervention services to children and families in individual and group settings
  • Work with families to develop and implement individualised plans that support the child's development and independence
  • Use a strengths-based coaching approach to support families and promote their ability to provide for their child's needs
