Key Role Overview

This is a critical position within the Provincial Preschool Autism Services team, focused on delivering comprehensive intervention services to preschool age children (ages 0-6) with autism.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Foster collaborative goal setting processes with families to address their child's identified needs
  • Conduct assessments to inform intervention planning
  • Design, implement, and coordinate individualized intervention programs tailored to each child's requirements
  • Promote family education and support throughout the intervention process
  • Integrate evidence-based frameworks into intervention strategies, including intensive models and caregiver-mediated programs
Essential Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field
  • Active registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body in Nova Scotia
  • Current CPR certification and First Aid training
  • Minimum two years of experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6) and their families
  • Demonstrated expertise in best practices for autism intervention
  • Excellent clinical skills, including assessment, program development, implementation, and coordination
