Procurement Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled procurement specialist to join our team in the Queensland Department of Education.


About the Job

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to contribute to the effective management of procurement processes, ensuring value for money and supporting the delivery of educational services.


Main Responsibilities
  • To provide high-quality procurement advice and services, including procurement planning, sourcing, contract negotiation, and management.
  • To advise clients on procurement matters in a timely and accurate manner, providing clear guidance and support.
  • To mentor staff on state and department procurement policies and practices, promoting a culture of compliance and excellence.
  • To exercise a procurement delegation, overseeing sourcing processes and ensuring that contracts are awarded in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines.

Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Queensland Government's Procurement Framework and related legislation.
  • Able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and remain agile in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to tailor correspondence and advice across management levels.
  • Experience managing delivery of procurement projects and establishing contracts.
  • Level 3 (Advanced) or higher certification in Queensland Government Procurement Certification Program (PCP), or equivalent.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to build strong relationships with stakeholders, and provide strategic procurement advice.


They will also have experience working in a similar role, preferably in the government sector, and be familiar with relevant laws and regulations.
