Sous Chef Job Description

Overview of the Sous Chef Position:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at The Glasshouse in Caulfield East. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring consistent food quality.

The ideal candidate will have a Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) and a Food Handlers Certificate. Previous experience working in a fast-paced pub/bistro environment is essential. You should also be well-versed in all kitchen areas with hands-on experience and able to follow and give directions when required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Head Chef in managing and training a diverse kitchen team.
  • Implement and manage Food Safety Plans.
  • Prepare and cook menu items as per cooking guidelines and set standards.
  • Work in conjunction with the Head Chef to develop and implement menus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Requirements:
  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Experience working in a pub/bistro fast-paced environment.
  • Well-versed in all kitchen areas with hands-on experience.
  • Ability to follow and give directions when required.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
