Innovative Engineer for Science Education

At Stile Education, we're on a mission to radically improve mainstream science education at schools. We're looking for exceptional engineers who want to solve interesting problems alongside brilliant people.
You'll take the lead on solving a critical problem, and be responsible for delivering a pragmatic solution that embodies excellent engineering tradeoffs. For example:
- Transform student results into insights about their literacy, numeracy, critical skills, and knowledge so that teachers can intervene faster and more effectively
- Build more amazing interactive simulations that let students explore the processes that they're learning about
- Make our content even more accessible by using AI to help our writers provide lower literacy-level hints and scaffolding for students that need it
- Track what lab equipment schools have, and what they need for their upcoming lessons so that we can send them exactly what they need before they need it
- Presentation of profound insights about student outcomes and high-impact teaching strategies to senior government and school leaders to help inform the future of education policy

- Modern tech stack. AWS, Terraform, Rust for tooling, CI on Buildkite, API written in Ruby and Sorbet (not Rails), with frontend in React and Typescript, glued together with Protobuf interfaces

- Critical thinker who sees the system as a whole, and finds ways to cut to the core of the issue
- Loves creating fun, educational experiences that help people think differently
- Thinks about systems, not just details - considers how data flows, handles API errors, and makes the next iteration easier to develop than the previous
