Safety Expertise
Our Applied Science practice leverages a unique combination of technologies and expertise to engineer safe and resilient solutions. We apply expertise in solid and fluid dynamics, materials science, acoustics, risk assessments, and computational simulation methods to solve complex problems. This includes research, mathematical modeling, software development, and design to manage risks to life safety in various industries.
Australian Presence
We have an Australian office based in Melbourne, which primarily focuses on supporting the Australian Department of Defence and Defence industry portfolio. Our team offers complimentary services in our Protective Design and Security portfolio offering for government clients covering infrastructure protection. The Melbourne team operates advanced Test and Evaluation capabilities, including our in-house Medium Weight Shock Testing Machine (JASSO) and operation of Defence's heavy weight shock barge for Maritime systems qualification.
Job Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Science Engineer to join our Applied Science team in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering principles and be able to demonstrate experience with advanced analysis (FEA and/or CFD), mechanical testing, and software development. Familiarity with Revit, Microstation, and AutoCAD would be beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Conducting engineering and design analysis using Finite Element Analysis and Computation Fluid Dynamics codes for various projects.
- Supporting test and evaluation programs for the certification of military platforms and equipment.
- Researching and interpreting applicable codes and standards.
- Contributing to advancing the state of the art in our community of practice.
Requirements
- A degree (Master's and/or Ph.D. preferred) in Engineering.
- Experience in software development, particularly with languages such as Python or MATLAB.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
