Electoral Operations Manager

The Role
You will be responsible for managing your work unit to ensure the proper conduct of federal elections and referendums. You will work closely with other departments and engage temporary election workforce during peak periods.
Each team leader oversees a team of around 2-10 staff. During election events, the team size increases significantly as we scale up and deliver a large-scale electoral operation. As the Team Leader, you will undertake legislative responsibilities of the Divisional Returning Officer for a federal electoral division and work to ensure transparency and integrity in election results.
You will develop strong connections with colleagues and supportive networks as we work together to deliver an impartial and independent electoral system with high integrity.
Requirements
We seek agile, energetic, self-motivated, and results-driven individuals who can lead and manage divisional election planning, delivery, and evaluation. Ideally, you are a self-starter able to work under pressure, independently under limited guidance, and comfortably working in a team environment.
You will contribute to developing team objectives for short-term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives. This includes setting priorities for the work area, maintaining team cohesion, ensuring quality of outputs for the work area, and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
You will supervise our temporary election staff, using your leadership skills to seamlessly support expanding workforce requirements.

Working Conditions
The standard working week is 37.5 hours, but extended hours and key election projects with fixed deadlines during an election period, including multiple weekends and evenings, are required.
