About the Role
This Occupational Therapist position will work with students to ensure they can successfully engage and participate in their education through classroom and other school-based activities.
We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative Occupational Therapist who is skilled in various therapies and behavioral-based interventions. The successful applicant will possess excellent collaboration skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders, including child protection services, tertiary services, and youth justice agencies.
The role involves identifying sensory processing and/or sensory modulation difficulties and creating class implementation plans for teachers. You will also teach emotional regulation skills to students and facilitate social skills training and communication skills training (individual and groups).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement occupational therapy programs for students
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop individualized plans
- Conduct assessments and interventions to support student engagement and participation
- Maintain accurate records and reports
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration
- Sound knowledge of current theory and practice in occupational therapy
- Highly developed listening and communication skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage own workload and set priorities without supervision
