Craftsman Job Role

About the Job:

  • To successfully execute this role, you will be required to install sheet flooring, erect lightweight steel wallframes and roof trusses, install windows and doors, and construct eaves.
  • You will also work collaboratively with project managers onsite to ensure a high standard of work is achieved.
  • Key tasks include setting out buildings on site, setting up building levels as per datum and drawings provided, and ensuring all necessary materials are on site on time.
  • Additionally, you will be responsible for installing exterior wall claddings, linings, panelling and mouldings, fitting man holes, special door furniture, extra specific flashings, and undertaking reworks and refurbish builds as required.
  • Maintenance and repair work, modifying furniture products to suit specific requirements, and closing out punch list items prior to and after client inspections are also part of this role.
  • Erecting scaffolding around buildings when required, building stairs, ramps, and other items, providing assistance to trade workers and labourers, and performing any other carpentry duties as needed are also key responsibilities.

  • This role requires strong communication skills, day-to-day planning and decision-making abilities, delegation of work between team members to maximise workflow, maintaining an open and honest relationship with peers, and striving to complete all works to a high standard.
  • Other essential skills include planning, organising, and directing resources in a safe and cost-effective manner, monitoring performance against pre-determined targets, minimising resource waste, leading by example, being fully accountable for performance indicators and that of the team, actively participating in planning and business improvement and development, and supporting all levels of the team, including apprentices.
