Job Opportunity: Fibre Splicer

Fibre splicing and integration training is essential for workforce development, encompassing both NBN DFN & LFN fibre networks. This role involves installing communications racks, structural supports, and network equipment.

The ideal candidate will have more than one year of experience in fibre splicing, trouble shooting, and team management on a major telecommunication network. NBN enable qualification, first aid and CPR certification, and a construction card are required.

Additional skills and qualifications include fibre splicing and testing certificates, traffic management cards, confined space and gas detection, working at height, and extensive understanding of networks.

Australian work rights and a willingness to undergo flu and Covid vaccinations are also necessary. Salary packaging and visa sponsorship are available benefits.

This role offers an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for overtime pay and penalty rates. The preferred work location is Australia, and the position requires flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions.

About the Role

As a Fibre Splicer, you will be responsible for:

  • Fibre splicing and integration training to develop workforce capabilities;
  • Installing communications racks, structural supports, and network equipment;
  • Preparing, handling, and terminating ribbon and multi-core fibre cables;
  • Performing fault finding, labelling to required standards, and testing insertion loss and OTDR fibre cables;
  • Integration of FTTN, FTTB, and FTTC equipment;
  • Preparing scope of works, ordering materials, and reconciling them;
  • Reading, understanding, and marking up telecommunications plans;
  • Conducting safety and quality inspections, reporting non-conformances, and maintaining skill levels of workforce to meet client needs;
  • Creating As-Built Documentation, including red lines, artifacts, and completion of fibre workbooks;
  • Demonstrating sound understanding of WHS requirements, including WIs, SWMS, and risk assessments.

Key Qualifications and Requirements

  • More than one year of experience in fibre splicing, trouble shooting, and team management on a major telecommunication network;
  • NBN enable qualification;
  • First aid and CPR certification;
  • Construction card (White Card);
  • Fibre splicing and testing certificates;
  • Traffic management card (Yellow Card);
  • Confined space and gas detection;
  • Working at height;
  • Extensive understanding of networks;
  • Can-do attitude;
  • Australian (C Class) drivers' license;
  • Police check (within six months): clear with no convictions;
  • Full Australian work rights;
  • Willingness to get flu and Covid vaccinations.
