About This Role

The Therapeutic Area Leader is responsible for driving strategic initiatives to support business growth and the effective delivery of contracted work in clinical trials.

This includes developing innovative delivery strategies, differentiating our services from competitors, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve long-term business objectives.

Main Responsibilities
  • Create value-added delivery strategies for Early and Late Phase studies or programs, leveraging expertise and capabilities in the therapeutic area.
  • Promote Emerald Clinical's services by working closely with experts to differentiate us from competitors.
  • Support business expansion through collaboration with Functional Area Heads and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop tailored delivery strategies for all projects, addressing specific client needs and challenges.
  • Align with the global operational strategy by coordinating with Operations Area Lead team members.
  • Develop comprehensive training materials and a library of resources to support project leads regionally and globally.
New Business Opportunities
  • Partner with Business Development to evaluate opportunities, prepare content, and present project strategy and win themes.
  • Develop and review project budgets aligned with strategy and pricing targets; participate in bid defenses and customer meetings as required.
  • Mentor Project Leads through thorough handover, ensuring they can effectively communicate project strategy to clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related science or healthcare discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of global clinical research experience with hands-on operational project delivery and/or drug development experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of global business development experience, with direct involvement in processes such as RFPs, client leadership, and relationships.
  • Expert experience in one or more operational areas within the assigned therapeutic area.
  • Strong leadership, ability to work with minimal supervision, and experience leading a virtual team in a matrix organization.
  • Strong business acumen with financial awareness and negotiation skills.
