
Expert Rehabilitation Specialist

The multidisciplinary team provides early in-reach rehabilitation services to patients in the acute hospital. The focus is on maximising functional outcomes and early discharge to ambulatory rehabilitation settings.
- The role involves collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to effectively plan and provide therapeutic interventions based on patient goals.
- Clinical physiotherapy assessment of patients' physical abilities, and goals using a variety of formal and informal assessments.
- Communication with patients' family, carers and other service providers.
- Providing consultative services regarding physiotherapy to other team members, disciplines and agencies.
- Participation in interdisciplinary clinical and planning activities to enhance the overall service provided to patients.
- Initiation of quality and service improvement activities within the team.
- Development of therapy programs and supervision of therapy assistants in their implementation.
- The ability to assess and provide appropriate physio-therapeutic management to patients of the ambulatory rehabilitation service with increasing levels of complexity.
- Experience as a clinician in the assessment and provision of high-quality rehabilitation to clients with various conditions requiring a rehabilitative approach.
- High levels of responsibility and organisational skills including prioritisation of work, meeting deadlines, delegation and supervision of students and allied health assistants.
- Maintenance of high standards of physiotherapy.
- High level interpersonal, negotiating, counselling and problem-solving skills with communication with clients, other professional staff and community agencies both verbally and in writing.
