About the Role

We are seeking a Consumer Perspective, Mental Health Lived Experience Worker to join our Traralgon Community Mental Health team on a part-time basis until September 2024.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support to consumers who are receiving care from Latrobe Regional Health Mental Health Service.
  • Form mutually supportive and empathetic peer relationships by appropriately and purposefully sharing your own story and understanding of the impacts of mental distress and illness on consumers.
  • Use your lived experiences supporting someone through service use and recovery to provide emotional and practical support, making it easier to navigate the mental health system, and inspiring confidence, optimism, and hope in others about the journey of recovery.

Requirements
  • Lived experience of being a consumer of Mental health services.
  • A willingness to purposefully and appropriately use your own story to help others further their own understanding of and belief in recovery.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
