Payroll Specialist

Thiess Group is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in supporting both our day-to-day payroll operations and our ongoing Payroll Transformation Projects. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring our Human Capital Management (HCM) and payroll systems and end-to-end processes evolve to meet the changing needs of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and prioritize the backlog of Change Requests to ensure payroll systems are updated efficiently and in compliance with regulations.
- Partner with Industrial Relations, Information Technology, and the Payroll Service Provider to accurately interpret and implement payroll system configurations related to Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
- Maintain time and attendance/payroll rules, core data, and conduct regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy within payroll systems.
- Analyze complex pay queries, identify discrepancies, and drive process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain essential documentation and support payroll leaders with reports, reconciliations, and audits while staying updated on changes in payroll legislation.
About You
As an ideal candidate for this Payroll Specialist role, you bring a wealth of experience in handling highly complex payroll issues. Your expertise in defining payroll system configuration requirements ensures accurate interpretation and application of Awards and Enterprise Agreements. With a demonstrated understanding of payroll and time and attendance systems functionality, you excel at configuring these systems to meet diverse business requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources, or equivalent qualifications/experience.
- 2-5 years' experience in end-to-end payroll management in medium/large organizations.
- Exposure to Oracle HRIS and/or Preceda payroll is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel to intermediate standard (minimum).
