About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Risk division. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal support to the Virgin Australia Group, working closely with our business colleagues to drive strategic initiatives and advise on a broad range of legal and compliance risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial and general procurement contracts
  • Working collaboratively with business colleagues on strategic business-wide initiatives
  • Reviewing marketing and promotional communications
  • Advising on legal and compliance risks, including privacy, competition and consumer law, spam compliance and workplace health and safety
  • Supporting the delivery of legal and compliance training to business team members
  • Helping drive process improvement initiatives through the Legal team's Legal Operations program
  • Championing engagement with the Legal team in the Virgin Australia Group
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years post-admission experience working with an in-house team or reputable law firm
  • Strong technical contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Experience advising on compliance issues, including competition and consumer law, privacy, spam and workplace health and safety
  • Solutions-focused with the ability to deliver legal advice that is both compliant and supports the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Experienced in managing multiple internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with Legal technology platforms, including matter and document management systems
