Privacy Law Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join our team in Canberra. The successful candidate will have expertise in information law, particularly federal privacy law, and related regulatory frameworks.
The role involves supporting Government clients navigate the intersection between privacy law, confidentiality/secrecy provisions, and decisions made under legislation.
Key responsibilities include managing privacy complaints/incidents, conducting data privacy risk and compliance reviews, and building effective client relationships.
About the Role
- Support Government clients on information law matters
- Conduct privacy threshold assessments, privacy impact assessments, and data privacy risk and compliance reviews
- Manage privacy complaints/incidents and ensure effective resolution
- Build and maintain client relationships
Requirements
- Between 2-5 years' experience in information law
- Expertise in federal privacy law and related regulatory frameworks
- Excellent working knowledge of archives, FOI, and statutory secrecy provisions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
