Job Title: Aboriginal Mental Health Worker

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as an Aboriginal Mental Health Worker. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community members.

The successful candidate will work closely with clinical teams to provide culturally safe services to Aboriginal consumers. They will utilise their lived experiences to support others in their mental health and wellbeing recovery journey.

This role requires a high level of empathy, cultural awareness, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have established links with their local Aboriginal community and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal culture and wisdom.

About the Role
  • Provide culturally safe services to Aboriginal consumers
  • Work closely with clinical teams to support consumers in developing hope, autonomy and purpose
  • Encourage culture, spirituality, and identity and basic needs work, roles, and responsibilities; education; physical health; and mental health
Requirements
  • Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Hold a minimum of Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or equivalent)
  • Able to utilise lived experience to support others in their own mental health and wellbeing recovery journey
