We are seeking an experienced Content Producer to join our news team in Sydney. This ongoing / permanent full-time role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Australia's independent national broadcaster.

The Role

You will be responsible for producing detailed multi-platform coverage plans for key stories and events, supporting teams to prioritise commissioning for digital platforms and ensuring efficient use of resources. You will also assist in identifying and lining up talent for news coverage, and completing multi-platform production tasks as required.

The Role Involves
  1. Developing a solid understanding of current events and issues by monitoring a wide range of media outlets/sources.
  2. Overseeing the futures diary, communicating upcoming events with output platforms and relevant content teams, and initiating early planning process.
  3. Ensuring planning documents are clear, detailed, accurate and up-to-date.
  4. In collaboration with senior editors, responding to breaking news with appropriate planning detail, calls and follow-up to ensure output needs are met.
  5. Suggesting and pitching story ideas that would be of interest to new and underserved audiences and contributing to planning and editorial meetings.
  6. Assisting in generating stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country.

This role requires excellent communication and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet production deadlines. You will have experience working in a News environment and possess either relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent skills.

  • Being able to develop and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to generate coverage plans and story ideas, share knowledge and increase collaboration opportunities.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a range of people in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multi-platform content production and emerging technologies. Experienced and proficient in the use of multimedia editing and production systems highly desirable.
  • A demonstrated and ongoing interest and passion in finding and telling stories that reflect Australia's diversity.
