About the Role

As a Senior Systems Specialist in Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and technical leadership to our team. Your primary objective will be to troubleshoot complex issues, enhance existing systems, and implement new ones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance and technical leadership to the team, ensuring that system support and design align with strategic objectives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal clients and Technology team members to ensure seamless system support and design.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their knowledge of systems and strengthening our overall support capabilities.
  • Process Development: Develop processes to ensure an excellent understanding of current systems and pain points.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business stakeholders to get their input into current and future system development and enhancement.
  • Change Management: Influence and drive future system changes with business stakeholders, aligning with strategic objectives.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Information Systems or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in analysing business issues, translating them into clear business requirements, and implementing solutions within airline systems.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership abilities, capable of mentoring and developing junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Track record of identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and successfully implementing change initiatives.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Comprehensive Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the Virgin Australia Group.
  • IT Consulting Experience: Prior experience in IT consulting.
  • IT Service Delivery: Proficiency in IT service delivery.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management and governance principles.
  • IT Security: Fundamental understanding of IT security protocols.
  • Australian Privacy Principles: Basic knowledge of Australian Privacy Principles.
  • Lean Process Design: Experience in lean process design and visualization.
