Job Title: Legal Counsel

About the Role:

BESIX Watpac is seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert advice on contract interpretation and administration, ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on contract interpretation and administration
  • Ensure compliance with BESIX Watpac's policies and procedures
  • Identify and advise on key contractual and legal risks
  • Prepare legal and commercial benchmark reviews of tender head contracts
  • Attend tender, contract, and dispute resolution discussions and negotiations
  • Review and respond to proposed departures by subcontractors and consultants
  • Manage external lawyers and review and draft amendments to various forms of construction documents
  • Review confidentiality agreements and MOUs and draft necessary amendments
  • Assist in developing and delivering training on contract interpretation and administration
  • Provide general legal advice to the business

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law
  • Practicing certificate in NSW
  • Solid experience in construction law
  • Research and analytical skills related to legal matters
  • Sound problem-solving skills and ability to exercise balanced and commercial judgement
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate, influence, and build effective relationships at all levels of the business
