As a Clinical Data Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of clinical data across various inpatient episodes.
About the RoleYou will work closely with our dedicated Clinical Coding Team to achieve this goal. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Effectively reviewing medical records and documentation to identify any missing or ambiguous information that requires further clarification;
- Liaising with clinical and administrative staff to obtain accurate data; and
- Participating in regular continuing professional education sessions to stay updated on best practices and industry standards.
To succeed in this role, you should possess exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills, as well as adaptability and courtesy when dealing with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Clinical coding qualifications from a reputable organization or equivalent, such as a Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management);
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-AM 12th edition, national and local coding standards, and DRG and casemix concepts;
- Good time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines;
- Ability to take on continuing study and keep up-to-date with industry developments;
- At least 2 years of experience in abstracting and coding across a wide range of casemix;
- Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and patient management systems.
