About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team and lead the underwriting of our Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) portfolio.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering professional and efficient customer service to achieve profitable premium growth and underwriting profitability in our core segments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake personal underwriting of the SME portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely risk assessments.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to brokers and distribution partners, as well as internal colleagues, to build strong relationships and drive business growth.
  • Assist the Portfolio Managers and Regional Underwriting Manager in maximising the profitability of the SME portfolio through effective risk management strategies.
  • Contribute to developing a workplace learning environment, sharing knowledge and best practices with colleagues to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience working in underwriting, with a strong understanding of risk management principles and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of package products and exposures, with the ability to develop and implement practical strategies to secure new business and retention of renewals.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and negotiation skills, both internally and externally, to build strong relationships and drive business growth.
  • Proven ability to assist in the development and implementation of effective risk management strategies within the general insurance industry.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent people skills and ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, business partners, and customers.
