
HR Director Position

A dynamic and ambitious organization is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to lead the People & Culture function in a rapidly growing scale-up environment.
As the successful candidate, you will oversee the end-to-end HR and payroll function, balancing operational delivery and strategic initiatives. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with senior leaders to shape and deliver HR strategy aligned to business growth and workforce planning.
- Leading all HR operations, including workplace health and safety, return-to-work programs, onboarding, inductions, policy development, and compliance.
- Overseeing payroll governance, including authorizing timesheets, managing award interpretation, and ensuring accurate payroll processing.
- Driving strategic projects such as culture development, leadership capability uplift, succession planning, and organizational design.
- Acting as a trusted advisor on employment relations/industrial relations matters, supporting managers with best practice guidance and resolution strategies.
- Embedding a performance and development framework that supports employee growth and retention.
- Leading HR systems improvement and data reporting for better decision-making and compliance.
- Leading talent attraction and recruitment initiatives, building pipelines of skilled candidates across property and construction, and implementing strategies to position the organization as an employer of choice.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven background in HR generalism, technical payroll knowledge, and the ability to work across both strategic and operational levels. Key requirements include:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in HR, preferably at HR Business Partner or Manager level.
- Strong knowledge of Australian workplace laws and WHS legislation.
- Excellent influencing skills with the ability to partner with senior leaders and drive cultural change.
- Experience with HRIS platforms (ideally ELMO).
- Prior experience in the construction or property-related industry is highly desirable.
