About North East Link

The North East Link Project in Victoria is a major road project, and the Central Package is being delivered by The Spark Consortium as a Public Private Partnership. The consortium's design and construction contractor will deliver twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.

With up to 135,000 vehicles using North East Link every day, the project aims to reduce journey times and divert heavy vehicles away from local roads. This initiative will also maintain local roads while reducing congestion in the north-east.

About the Opportunity

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your career on Victoria's largest infrastructure project and contribute to leaving a lasting legacy for Melbourne. As a safety specialist, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the well-being of all personnel involved in the project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop processes to provide a safe working environment for all personnel and monitor their implementation.
  • Conduct health and safety audits and inspections as per audit schedules and risk profiles of the works.
  • Support the delivery team in ensuring compliance with project construction documentation processes and provide specialist advice during its development.
  • Undertake regular safety monitoring activities to ensure compliance with safety management systems, contractor agreements, contracts, relevant legislation, and business requirements.

Requirements:

  • A formal qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a safety role in high-risk construction.
  • Previous experience working with a Tier 1 or 2 contractor in tunneling and/or mining is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Extensive experience in workplace and contractor safety management processes within complex environments.
  • A well-developed understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading incident investigations, including the development of reports and close-out of corrective actions.
  • Experience in undertaking safety inspections and other safety monitoring activities, including the development of audit reports and close-out of corrective actions.

We offer a salary range of $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience. We are committed to equal employment opportunity and actively seek to remove barriers people may face in gaining a successful position on the North East Link Central Package.
