
Family Support Specialist

The Kinship Care First Supports Program aims to identify kinship networks early and strengthen family reunification where possible. The program promotes placement stability and prevents children from being placed in residential care unnecessarily.
This role involves undertaking comprehensive assessments and providing recommendations to Child Protection about the suitability of kinship care placements. The assessment will consider risk factors, strengths and weaknesses of the placement and identify the child's individual needs.
The successful candidate will support children to settle within the placement and support kinship carers to build their capacity to respond to the child's safety, stability and developmental needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough assessments of kinship care placements
- Provide recommendations on placement suitability
- Analyze risk factors, strengths and weaknesses of placements
- Determine individual child needs and develop plans to support them
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance carer capacity
