Family Violence Response Specialist

 

About the Role

This position requires a Family Violence Response Specialist to deliver high-quality support services to children, young people, and families experiencing family violence.

The specialist will be responsible for delivering intake support via phone, within the Orange Door site, and through outreach visits. The primary goal is to provide a safe and effective response to those affected by family violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of clients requiring support with family violence, providing individualized case management and ensuring timely interventions.
  • Deliver screening and triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, allocation, and coordinated referrals for clients, collaborating closely with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate to support integrated risk assessment and planning across agencies, ensuring comprehensive support for clients.
  • Apply for brokerage on behalf of clients when necessary, facilitating access to required resources and services.
  • Refer clients to services within the broader service system and provide them with information and support.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification as per the mandatory minimum requirements for specialist family violence practitioners.
  • Experience, skills, and capabilities in child, youth, and families welfare, with a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice.
  • Well-developed risk assessment and management skills, with the ability to identify and respond to emerging risks.
  • Understanding of the broader service system referral pathways, enabling seamless connections to relevant services.
  • Sound knowledge of the MARAM Framework, Best Interests Principles, and the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy.
  • Valid and current Driver's License, allowing for safe and efficient travel between locations.
