
Youth Family Support Specialist

This role provides person-centred support and a strengths-based approach to assisting young people and families. The primary goal is to effect reconciliation between young people and their families, ensuring they stay within the family home or are restored.
Key Responsibilities- Provide casework and counselling using appropriate models of intervention and a range of counselling/therapeutic approaches.
- Offer information, advice, support, advocacy and referrals to relevant agencies or specialist services.
- Develop and deliver skills-based and therapeutic groups to build life skills for young people and parenting skills for families.
- Maintain linkages and networks with government, community and corporate stakeholders.
- Demonstrated skills in assessment, referrals, and coordination of care for young people.
- Ability to use person-centred frameworks and a strengths-based approach in providing casework and counselling.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and an understanding of mediation and conflict resolution.
- Experience working independently and within a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
- 14 weeks paid maternity leave or 3 weeks paid parental pay.
