Family Reconciliation Specialist

The Family Reconciliation Specialist will provide expert support and a solution-focused approach to assisting young people and families. The primary goal of the Specialist is to promote unity between young people and their families, ensuring young people remain within the family home or are restored to their family where this is acceptable and appropriate.

The Specialist will offer a range of services to young people, families and young parents including information, advice, support, advocacy and guidance, alongside medium to long-term casework, mediation and referrals to relevant agencies or specialist services. Developing and delivering skills-based and therapeutic groups to build life skills for young people and parenting skills for families is also a key focus of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide solution-focused support and an approach in casework and guidance using appropriate models of intervention and a range of approaches.
  • Offer information, advice, support, advocacy and guidance to young people, families and young parents.
  • Conduct medium to long-term casework, mediation and referrals to relevant agencies or specialist services.
  • Develop and deliver skills-based and therapeutic groups to build life skills for young people and parenting skills for families.
  • Build and maintain linkages and networks with government, community and corporate stakeholders.
  • Work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Maintain comprehensive and professional client information and complete data collation.

This role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion and emotional intelligence. You will need to be able to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
