Family Centred Youth Justice Practitioner

The role is an opportunity to work alongside Aboriginal young people and their families, providing intensive case management and individualised therapeutic support.

This position boasts a trauma-informed and family-centred approach aimed at reducing the risk of contact with the youth justice system for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To work closely with the parent/carer, family unit, and other services and supports involved, respecting unique kinship structures and understanding that every family looks different.
  • Offer group diversion and culture-based activities, education workshops and family-centred support to address any presenting challenges, prior to escalation.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services/Social Work/Psychology.
  • 3-5 years case management experience in the child welfare field.
  • Valid Police Check, a Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination (Recommended).
