JOB DESCRIPTION

Supportive Options has multiple casual positions available for support workers. These positions require staff to provide a range of shifts including short (minimum of 3 hours), all day, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Primarily in our clients homes and out in the community. Our clients are typically neurodiverse with complex needs and associated behaviours. Successful applicants ideally have an understanding of behaviours associated with complex neurological disorders, and are able to support our clients through their day so they can achieve in daily life. The provision of on and off the job training will be provided to the successful applicants tailored to their needs and experience.

Supportive Options is a private NDIS Provider, that offers in home 1:1 care & community care services to people with a disability who require high intensity care.

Servicing the Western, Eastern and South Eastern regions of Melbourne, Supportive Options is growing and expanding its care services. We are looking for additional staff to allow us to service our every growing client list.

We deliver highly personalised, quality support with a focus on improving the lives of people we work with, their carers and families. We work with psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and other specialists to create and implement person-centred plans that support high-quality outcomes for those we support.

We only hire reliable, committed, compassionate and enthusiastic people, and once they become part of the team, we support them on an ongoing basis, ensuring they are working with a person who is the "right fit" for both of them, with flexible hours.

Our team work with our clients in their homes, workplaces and out in the community, almost always in a 1:1 ratio. In some cases where needs are higher 2:1 ratio is required.

Successful employees will be hired directly by Supportive Options as an employee and NOT subcontractor. (TFN only, not ABN)

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Demonstrated ability in the contribution to continued learning and development of those you work with, building their capacity in areas such as independence, daily living skills, accessing the community and meaningful employment.
  • Ability, experience and willingness to implement creative, high quality person centred active support with a focus on individualised outcomes.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Vic)
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and with key stakeholders including those we work with and their extended care team.
  • A demonstrated ability to work calmly and holistically across all disabilities and with complex support needs to achieve participants life goals. Particularly working with individuals who have an intellectual disability, Autism and other neurological co-morbidities.
  • Proven experience working (1:1) and in small teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team to assess, manage and respond to risk within the community.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – clear concise English.
  • Maintaining daily recording records and data collection records (training provided).
  • Computer, iPhone and iPad skills.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Ability to build strong rapport with those you support and enjoy their company.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally, visually and written, clear concise English.
  • Experience working in small teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of person centred active support.
  • Commitment to providing responsive and considerate care.
  • Ability to work with primary school aged through to adults with all abilities.
  • Competencies and experience working with clients who have complex neurological/behavioural needs and multiple disabilities.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and be organised.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to provide positive behaviour support.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Availability for various shifts throughout the week (up to 38hrs per week) including weekends, evenings and public holidays for participants located in Melbournes North-East to South-East suburbs.
  • Updated First Aid & CPR.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Your own roadworthy insured car.
  • Android or iPhone mobile phone.
  • Current Police Check.
  • Working With Children Check.
  • NDIS Worker Screener Check.
  • COVID-19 Infection Control Training.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.
  • NDIS Module Certificate.
  • Two contactable referees.
  • All applicants must be a resident or unrestricted working visa in Australia. Prior to commencement.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English (equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or above).
  • Minimum 6 months experience in disability support.
  • Certificate IV in Individual Support or willingness to obtain within 12 months
