We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Tenancy Advocate to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in empowering vulnerable tenants through expert advice, proactive dispute mediation, and education on tenancy laws.
About the Role
This is a full-time (or 0.8) on-site position that offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of those who need it most. You will work closely with clients, landlords, and other stakeholders to provide tailored support and advocacy.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Providing expert advice on tenancy laws and regulations
- Meditating disputes between tenants and landlords
- Educating clients on their legal rights and responsibilities
- Conducting client interviews and meticulously reviewing tenancy agreements
- Providing strong advocacy and support during tribunal hearings
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A strong grasp of tenancy law, particularly the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 and its updates
- Proven experience in advocacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution
- Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with a team
- A genuine sense of empathy for and understanding of vulnerable populations
- Meticulous and timely record-keeping skills
- A bachelor's degree in law, social work, or a related field (preferred)
- Previous experience in a tenancy or advocacy-related role (highly regarded)
