Job Description

The Solar Systems Designer will be responsible for designing and documenting residential solar systems, ensuring the successful execution of projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing electrical systems for solar PV solutions, including rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid/off-grid systems
  • Performing load calculations and analysing energy consumption data to design systems that meet client requirements
  • Interpreting drawings and specifications and creating detailed technical documentations for project execution and procurement
  • Conducting simulations and feasibility studies on existing solar installations to maximise system efficiency, performance and return on investment (ROI)
  • Generating Work Orders for installers, including Voltage Rise calculations and Single Line Diagrams and managing installation schedules
  • Designing and selecting electrical components such as solar panels, inverters, batteries, and mounting structures, electrical wiring
  • Overseeing installations of battery storage system, panels and electrical components
  • Collaborating with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate sourcing of materials
  • Enforcing electrical safety and quality standards in accordance with AS/NZS and WHS regulations
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Minimum 1 year of Australian proven experience in a similar role
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within the Solar Industry
  • SAA design accreditation for grid connected
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite/Office 365, AutoCAD (essential) and PVSyst
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and structural engineering principles as applied to solar energy systems
  • Familiarity with local permitting processes and building codes related to solar installations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a diverse team environment
