Job Overview

The Oral Health Professional plays a vital role in delivering quality healthcare to the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine patients, diagnose dental/oral conditions, prescribe treatment, and carry it out or direct others to do so, following clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Record patient interactions and medical history accurately in their dental records.
  • Educate patients on oral health-related conditions and disease prevention.
  • Participate in staff meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Prepare reports for the management team as requested.
  • Contribute to continuing education, on-the-job training, and staff orientation.
  • Develop and implement department policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance and health education to the community as needed.
  • Participate in program planning for the Department.
  • Consult with the management team on health issues as necessary.
  • Travel as necessary and attend meetings to represent the organization.
  • Coordinate programs and services with other center programs and services.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Clinical privileges and licensure requirements must be met.
  • Licensure and credentials: unrestricted license to practice dentistry in New Jersey, CPR (BLS) certification, ACLS preferred, CDS and DEA registrations, Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers.
