Job Title: Sustainability Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Specialist to support our client in ensuring full SHER compliance.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing sustainability initiatives, monitoring SHER performance, and ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and other requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure all incidents relevant to SHER are reported, investigated, corrected, and learnings disseminated.

  • Monitor SHER performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.

  • Develop and maintain the occupational health management and monitoring programme.

  • Manage all SHER site surveys, audits, and assessments.

  • Drive the culture of quality, health, safety, and environment by raising awareness of SHEQ throughout the site through various initiatives, communication plans, and training.

  • Assess the site's current sustainability performance, identify and prioritize the site's key sustainability strategies.

  • Develop adequate plans/controls to prevent pollution, respond to emergencies, and ensure business continuity.

  • Review the implementation and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure operational excellence.

  • Provide detailed audit reports with findings, identify non-conformities, and provide corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Maintain and enhance internal and external customer and contractor relations.

  • Liaise with the team on initiatives throughout the business and report on the reduction of the carbon footprint.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and experienced Junior Environmental & Risk Officer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
