Role Overview

We are seeking a Family Liaison Officer to join our team at Defence Member and Family Support. As a key member of the Rockingham team, you will play a vital role in helping Defence families connect and engage with their wider community and families.

About the Role
  • You will be responsible for engagement with Defence families, key stakeholders, and the wider community;
  • Organising and facilitating social functions to promote networking amongst Defence families and the wider community;
  • Using innovation and creative ways to promote and deliver DMFS programs and events;
  • Providing information and advice about local community resources and services;
  • Participating in Command and Unit facilitated events and functions for families;
  • Building knowledge of community services and engaging with service providers to inform them of the needs of defence families; and
  • Working as part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team.
About Our Team

Defence Member and Family Support provides services and programs to Command across all three services – Army, Navy and Air Force including Learmonth and Pilbara region. We coordinate events face to face and virtual covering Karratha and Learmonth, including pre-deployment events, welcome home events, DMFS Welcome to the West yearly event and other core events.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule online events, requiring planning, ordering of items, packaging and posting to remote locations within the specific timeframe;
  • Assist with the preparation of programs, Defence School Mentor Networking meetings, and events in partnership with ESO's;
  • Support the Defence Community Groups events, and requests from Command;
  • Coordinate the logistics for various events and activities.
Requirements
  • A person who can use their initiative to provide innovative ways to engage with Defence families and help connect them with the local community;
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills;
  • A team player with strong organisational skills;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Event planning skills to promote Defence family events;
  • The ability to coordinate functions;
  • Prioritise workload;
  • Work independently;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality;
  • Some after hours and weekend work is required.
