Working as a mechanical fitter is a great opportunity to be part of the Defence industry's backbone, supporting the Australian Defence Force. UGL plays a crucial role in operations and maintenance, asset management, and fuel supply services nationwide.

The Role
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of fuel installation assets and equipment as per established procedures.
  • Diagnostics and repairs in a breakdown environment of fuel related assets and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in project work on the fuel installation and related assets and equipment as required by the team leader.
  • Support subcontracted work packages as needed and work effectively with other teams to achieve common goals.
  • Visit various sites in the region, with occasional travel requirements to different locations within NT.

You will report directly to a Maintenance Supervisor based in Darwin and form part of a core crew of UGL technicians. This is an exciting chance to work in the Australian Defence environment and support national security needs.

To succeed, you should have:

  • Trade qualification in mechanics with relevant post-trade experience and a proven track record in fixed plant maintenance, preferably fuel services or Oil & Gas.
  • Experience working within the defence fuels network or defence industry will be highly valued.
  • Confined space and working at heights tickets are advantageous.
  • Strong emphasis on safety and ability to maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Current possession of, or ability to obtain appropriate Defence Security Clearance.
