Job Description

As a Senior Claims Manager, you will be responsible for managing member claims and investigations in accordance with relevant protocols and guidelines. You will facilitate the free flow of information to other departments within legislative and internal policy constraints.

You will contribute to the provision of claims services and provide guidance and technical support to Claims staff in optimising claim outcomes for members. This includes detailed knowledge and application of breach, causation and quantum principles.

Additionally, you will educate members, staff and external bodies in medico-legal, clinical risk and claims matters as directed.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in law or Health are essential.
  • At least 5 years' experience in medical negligence law is required, either in private practice or an insurance environment.
  • Senior claims management experience in a medical indemnity environment is favourable but not essential.
  • Advanced understanding of medical indemnity law and insurance principles is necessary.
  • Strong financial acumen and business skills are required to drive business goals.
  • Strong leadership skills, particularly people leadership, are essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance and health law is required.
  • Relationship building skills, proactive in developing relationships and understanding customer requirements, are vital.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills are necessary to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills in a legal and/or claims environment are essential.
About this Role

This is an 8-month fixed-term contract on a full-time basis. There is also potential for permanency in this role.
