Senior Manager, Human Research Ethics Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Human Research Ethics to join our team at The University of Queensland. This is a pivotal leadership role that will play a critical part in shaping the ethical landscape of our research.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Human Research Ethics team to deliver responsive, efficient services and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Oversee the administration of human research ethics committees, including the recruitment, training, and support of committee members.
- Provide expert advice on relevant legislation, codes, and guidelines to ensure alignment of UQ's human research ethics policies and procedures with best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing administrative systems and processes to promote the ethical and responsible conduct of human research across the University.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that support and advance ethical human research practices across UQ.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) is a member of the University's Senior Executive and has responsibility for the development and advancement of the University's profile in research and research training. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) is supported by the staff in the UQ Research and Innovation portfolio. Units within the portfolio have responsibility to support the University's research community through strategic engagement with external stakeholders, funding organisations and research partners; international collaborations; grants management; research performance data management, contract negotiation; and research ethics and integrity.
Within the UQ Research and Innovation portfolio Research Ethics and Integrity provides administrative and strategic support related to the University's animal ethics, human research ethics, sanctions, export controls and research integrity processes. Research Ethics and Integrity also provides advice, education and training to the UQ community.

- Postgraduate qualifications and extensive experience in human research ethics and/or associated research governance processes within Australia.
- In-depth knowledge of governance and regulatory frameworks for human research ethics, with experience in the operations of ethics committees in higher education or similarly complex environments.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in supervising, training, mentoring, and managing the performance of staff.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with a track record of providing clear, accurate advice in a complex regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver education and training programs, and to drive improvements in systems and procedures.
