Job Description:

The Dean of Students is responsible for providing Christian leadership in the development of culture and community, as well as establishing and maintaining clear expectations that align with the school's Strategic Vision and Goals.

This includes cultivating a positive and caring learning environment for students transitioning into Secondary School, enabling them to flourish. The role involves overseeing pastoral care, wellbeing, holistic programs, and academic progress of Year 7-8 students through targeted programs, individualised support, data-informed interventions, and close collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

To achieve this, the Dean will develop and maintain positive working relationships with key staff members, including the Head of Secondary, Assistant Head of Secondary, Director of Staff, Director of Teaching and Learning, Inclusive Education Leader, Registrar, Education Operations Coordinator, and other staff at the College.

Key responsibilities include leading Year Level Coordinators and Assistant Year Level Coordinators through weekly meetings, mentoring, and oversight of their responsibilities. The Dean will also lead staff development and uphold expectations to meet student needs effectively.

Additionally, the Dean will embody College values in day-to-day interactions, maintaining daily visibility and involvement. This includes supporting staff to set individual and team goals and maintaining accountability for ongoing growth and development.

The Dean will lead and monitor the Pastoral Care Program, ensuring it is taught consistently across all Pastoral Groups. They will also facilitate transition programs for new and rising students, including orientation events, class placements, elective selections, and peer-mentor pairings.
