Chief Data Centre Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Chief Data Centre Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a global data centre infrastructure. This includes ensuring design, planning, delivery, and operation of all servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that support our customers.

This role requires an experienced individual with technical expertise in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. The successful candidate will have experience in maintaining critical facility environments, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to lead a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cover gaps in a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster.
  • Manage contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with established practices and local legislation.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and conduct analyses to optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for events managed by DCEO.
  • Work with DC managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant performance.
  • Establish documentation relevant to business and facility operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Review management of routine maintenance and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, commissioning, and build out of new facilities.
  • Drive and implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
  • Manage facility assets and provide infrastructure and inventory asset management.
  • Attend and participate in regular construction and operational meetings.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in maintaining a data centre or critical space facility.
  • Technical training in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Further education in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.

To excel in this role, candidates should possess excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, and have a passion for data centre operations.
