
Strategic Product Leader

This role focuses on leading a team to deliver value to Xero customers quickly, ensuring a secure and stable platform for product teams and customers to rely on.
- Drive the direction of foundational products and services that positively impact small business owners, advisors, and employees.
- Champion product and engineering teams as customers, working towards a world-class developer experience.
- Embed a product mindset in engineering teams, driving success through methodical validation of a product roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand customer problems, championing the 'what' and 'why', and deliver value through defining, driving, and executing a product roadmap.
- Conduct research initiatives with stakeholders, synthesise insights into actionable next steps, and make decisions.
- Bridge business goals, user needs, and feasibility, helping design and ship products.
- Effectively communicate technical challenges, collaborating on complex product decisions with engineers and architects.
- Support prioritisation processes and run workshops, facilitating the right activities to get information.
- Get into details to ensure successful execution, understanding strategic level impacts.
- Confidently challenge the status quo, leading change initiatives for better outcomes.
- Lead product development teams, actively involved in planning and growth.
- Act as an ambassador for your team and product, working closely with key stakeholders.
Desired Experience:
- Experience with global products and distributed teams.
- Worked in lean startup environments.
- Translated big strategic priorities into roadmap items.
- Worked with developer platforms and legacy systems.
- Established healthy ways of working on newly formed cross-discipline teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ years experience in software Product Management.
- Proven product practice leadership skills.
- Experience with problem discovery and solution framing activities.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Customer-centric attitude.
- Inclusive attitude and experience working closely with design and engineering teams.
- Proven experience shipping digital products.
- Experience with cloud and/or SaaS products.
